My front tooth that felt funny, my regular dentist had moved across town; I made an appointment with Monarch Dental, which was closer.

First they wanted to know what medical coverage I had. I don't have any, then they checked my credit history.

The dentist looked like she was still in high school.

She told me I had cavities behind four front teeth. My other dentist, older, more experienced, had told me those were normal discolorations and not to worry. I'd had those spots for years, I took him at his word.

This young person also pointed out a crown needed replacing, but ignored the crack in my front tooth.

They told me how much it would cost: 1200.00!

They gave me paperwork so I could start payments before making an appointment for my treatment.

I paid for the office visit and got out. I called my old dentist, drove across town, and had him check me out.

He fixed the crack on my front tooth, told me the discolorations were not cavities, and my crown is in perfect condition.

The total cost was 75.00.

MONARCH IS A COMPLETE RIPOFF, no mistake.

Avoid-avoid-avoid!

I just had the same experience last week at the Monarch in Plano off Preston/Parker. I went in with a filling that came out so it hurt like a broken tooth. They presented a $2,500 treatment plan that included a deep cleaning...which means I would never get the free cleaning ever again.

I just immediately changed my dentist!!!

The Monarch Dental in Rockwall is not better! It takes over 5 months to get an appointment for teeth cleaning, and when you are done you get presented a treatment plan that always includes at least 2 crowns! If you have a cavity, they want to fix it with a crown! My 8 year old twins had such bad experiences there that I stopped taking them to the dentist for almost a year. One son had a filling done and 2 days later ended up with a huge dental abscess. I am an ER nurse and I see these every day. I called them to have them call in an antibiotic, but the clerk told me I had to see a doctor! If I didn't work until 7pm I would've gone there and smacked her face! I had to take my kiddo to my doc's saturday clinic, and the fees and meds took over $350 out of my HSA, which they refused to pay me back or *** the bill. Unfortunately for me, I have a DMO that requires me to use a Monarch or a dentist 22 miles away. Fortunately for me, a new Monarch opened in Rowlett and I have my appointment today. If it doesn't go well, I'll be making another post!
